Communication Forum Scotland is an informal alliance of
organisations with a primary interest in promoting and/or
providing for the needs of people with communication support
needs in Scotland.
Our vision
• People in Scotland with communication disabilities to have access to everything they want and need in order to enjoy a good
quality of life.
• A Scotland that understands and accommodates the needs
of people with communication disabilities and positively
promotes their strengths and involvement.
• An equalities agenda that recognises the full impact of
communication disability.
• To unite those working for people with communication
support needs and those living with communication support needs
so that the user voice is better heard by decision-makers,
service providers and the wider world.
Our values
• We are inclusive of all communication support needs
groups (apart from those whose primary concern is English as an
additional language).
• We recognise there are common barriers to communication
for people with diverse communication support needs.
Therefore there are common solutions in terms of changes of
attitudes and awareness and increased knowledge, skills and
resources.
• We recognise the diversity of communication methods.
• We support the 6 Communication Support Principles in the
Talk for Scotland Toolkit.
