Recommendations to other organisations

Provide services that reflect the reality of your service users lives, experiences and communication needs.

Support service users to participate in your organisation or service at all levels.  Your services will be more accessible and relevant for everyone.

Ask service users at an early stage to give you feedback on how inclusive your services are.  Continue this process throughout and make sure their participation is acknowledged and appreciated.

Work with partners to address any barriers and gaps in providing an inclusive service.

Avoid making assumptions about people's experiences or communication needs.

Develop a process of Equality Impact Assessments to make sure barriers are identified and then reduced or removed.
