'I am Project Director of Inclusion Scotland. This is a consortium of disability led organisations, individual disabled people and social partners who work towards removing barriers that prevent disabled people being fully included in society.

'I am invited to take part in a lot of events, large and small, looking at service development and public involvement. But as someone with both hearing and sight impairments my involvement can be limited by organisers not following basic good practice.

For example is the loop system working? Are there separate rooms for small group work to minimise the distraction of noise? Is there adequate lighting both natural and artificial? Are documents made accessible prior to and at events?
